Focus of research in the immediate future:  the evolution of Enlightenment symbols, icons and ideas in Latin American and Peninsular prose literature through the end of the Romantic period, and the appropriation of each as tools of anti- and post-colonialist writers; using Post-Colonial Theory as a lens to examine the dynamic confluence of history, literature and philosophy, especially as interpreted by Hegel, Mannheim and Bakhtin.
